The driving tests are poorly standardized, and so many people end up with licenses who could not drive 20 minutes away from their house without an accident. They differ a lot by state. America needs to redesign its driver's ed programs and licensure exams to focus on practical skills—not just stupid videos of people getting into accidents who texted while driving and parallel parking perfectly.
