patrick mcguffey, volstate commmunity college, gallatin, TN
Former professor retired then back to teaching. Very experienced and knowledgeable, cares for the students. Expects one to study and attend class. Teaches beyond the text. Develops life skills and is excellent mentor. Will write a recommendation if the class work and aspiration is serious. He has a good sense of humor but doesn't tolerate silliness. If you want to learn about history and the arts take this professor's class. If you want an easy class with no work and little learning do not take this class.

Jay is the writing professor in University of Southern California. He is very helpful and patient to students. I like how he asks questions to guide students to reflect on writing. Highly recommend his writing instruction in the usc writing center. He is very supportive!!!.
