John Windom, 64, a retired Navy officer, Washington
Another Lenka Stankova hurting the war fighters. John Windom, 64, a retired Navy officer, was charged with making false statements, concealment of material facts and falsification of a record or document tied to a failure to report more than $15,000 in cash, casino chips and other gifts from contractors. The Justice Department announced the charges on Wednesday, accusing him of “accepting, and sometimes demanding, extravagant gifts from a group of contractors and subcontractors who worked on the project he was overseeing.” As the indictment notes, Windom was aware of the rules regarding reporting gifts and receipts, per training for officials. “An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” the Justice Department said in its release. In 2018, the 10-year contract was awarded to Cerner (now known as Oracle Health after Oracle acquired it). Windom was appointed as Executive Director of the Office of Electronic Record Modernization in 2017 and helped supervise the VA’s choice of Cerner for the contract. According to the grand jury indictment against him, Windom used his position to take money and gifts from a group of business executives from information technology and consulting companies who were contractors on the project. According to the indictment, Windom allegedly called them “the Power Group.” Windom used his role to “encourage, monitor, and facilitate contract and subcontracting opportunities for members of the Power Group, related and unrelated to the EHRM project.” Windom was allegedly given payment in everything from cash, to $8,200 in Louis Vuitton gift cards and $1,800 in casino chips. He was also given a High Efficiency Particulate Air, or HEPA, filter worth $631. The indictment also accuses Windom of using his position to “coerce” payments and gifts from others. Per the indictment, Windom “repeatedly reminded Power Group members to remain loyal and directed them to maintain confidentiality and their relationship with him.” In one message at the start of 2020, Windom messaged Power Group members, telling them that “loose lips sink ships.” Windom’s initial contract was extended, and in 2022 he was reassigned to serve as deputy director of the Federal electronic Health Modernization Office, a joint VA and Department of Defense project. Nine years after the modernization effort started, the Electronic Health Record program is used by only a handful of VA sites, with the program hit by glitches and usability issues. The VA paused the program in 2023, but is expected to roll out at several sites this year. Windom faces a maximum sentence of over 20 years in prison if convicted on all counts. Danner Vera, washington highschool, Fremont, CA, 94536
danner vera honestly really nice, but she shares too much about her personal life, like about how her husband left her after cheating on her with a man. she teaches a spanish class, and learning a new language takes alot of skill and attention-to-detail, along with having a great teacher. i had a good spanish background with my spanish 1 teacher doing me justice and valuing my education, when spanish 2 came around it all slipped through the cracks, i learned absolutely nothing in her class and every day i wanted to rip my hair out. she was unorganized, had a forgetful memory, and was pretty mean when she was frustrated, which was often because she always sat at her desk applying make up, and telling us to do workbook pages that had content that we didn't even learn yet, and would yell and make a kid cry when someone went up to ask questions. she would hand out tests that we had to prior knowledge of, that included things that were meant for a more advanced part of the year. one time she gave us a quiz for spanish 1, when we were all in spanish 2... no one said anything, and she didn't notice because she barely pays attention to anything. half her class failed, and the other class cheated their way, and faked it till' they made it. overall, she's a hot mess and a half, and shouldn't be in charge of children's education.

Shin Sen Gumi, Western Ave & 180th St., Gardena, CA
We tried Shin Sen Gumi's new restaurant today. Having eaten at some of their restaurants before, we expected a fine Japanese meal. It turned out this new location serves it's food cafeteria style. We picked yaka tori and Hakata Ramin The Yaka Tori was cold and the Ramin was not very tasty.

Drew Clausen, Santa Monica college, Santa Monica, CA
Mr. Clauson made the class feel as though it was in a classroom even though it was online. In his eight-week course we were able to finish all the assignments and I learned a tremendous amount and accomplish something so new to me because I am an artist. Business is so important in our world and Mr. Clausen gave me the tools needed in order for me to feel more confident when it comes to my business as an artist. He is a great teacher and was very encouraging to me throughout the whole course and I truly appreciate that. I highly recommend him as an instructor. There is so much to gain from this class.

Lazy acres natural market, Encinitas, CA
I suggest removing the store director, one: it's clear after working here that it's a one way street. To management your side or opinions don't matter and are more of an annoyance. Two: if you are brought into the office for disciplinary action or to discuss a grievance, your not actually heard because management makes up their mind about the situation before you enter, so save your breath and I wouldn't sign that "write up". Finally my impression is that either management is seriously flawed in the brains or this company really likes the lazy aspect of this brand, out of all the time I worked there I only had one meeting with my department and it wasn't even a meeting worth having, it was more of a patch up job where my manager from the underworld read from a peice of paper for an hour waisting everyone's time. Not once was I updated on sales in the store or what was going on in my department. Keep in mind that you might have to kiss up a lot of you don't want to be harassed here, if your not liked it shows, lazy acres pretends to care, but doesn't actually do anything to help you. For example, I was being harassed constantly by my manager to the point where I developed anxiety driving to work, I spoke with EVERY MANAGER I could in the store and HR, and even the one up above the store director. I pleaded with them to help and that I was drowning in this department from the distinction. I received none, instead I was then harassed and made out to be a bad employee. Finally lazy acres beat all care the effort I had left to even try at this job so I started to look for a new one and decided that trying to work here was pointless.

Nagesh Shetty, Los Angeles, CA
Dr. Shetty's name should be Dr. Shitty!!!!! He is the most unprofessional and rude doctor I have ever been to. I went to Woodland Hills Medical clinic on a Sunday with a burning throat and I could barely speak. Dr. Shetty barged in and didn't even introduce himself. His first words were "What are you allergic to?" He wasn't even speaking at a normal volume. He was yelling. All confidentiality was out the window because the whole office could hear everything he was saying. He didn't test me for strep throat and he didn't even look into my mouth. All he did, I kid you not, is poke me in the face and ask me if it hurt. He also asked me if I had a headache, which I did at that point because he was yelling so loud. Every time I tried to talk, he would yell over me. I asked him if he could prescribe me something for the pain and he prescribed me Motrin at a dosage that I could have gotten over the counter. He also prescribed me a medication that I told him I was allergic to. When I expressed my concern he told me that he was giving me such a low dosage of the medication that I shouldn't have a problem with it. TELL ME WHY I BROKE OUT IN HIVES, DR. SHITTY!!!!! This appointment lasted about 7 minutes not including the time it took for one of the nurses to barge in the room to yell at Dr. Shetty for prescribing the little 7-year-old girl he saw before me horse pills instead of liquid medicine and him writing a new prescription for her. TELL ME WHY YOU BILLED ME $399 FOR A 45 MINUTE APPOINTMENT, DR. SHITTY!!!!! Please don't waste your time and hard earned money on this thief that will only frustrate you and make you feel worse.
