The man was my hs counselor, and he's a moral dude. But can't lie, I know several kids who didn't love him bc he jumped to conclusions about their abilities. He kinda assumed some really top-notch students should cut down on AP's just bc they weren't male scholar-athletes. They weren't too happy about that. No stankova sh*t here though...just a man trying his best and making mistakes.

I am a parent and was surprised by Mr. Englerth. He is clearly not qualified, and I am suspicious of his qualifications to even be employed by the high school. He does not seem to care and even if he did, I don't think he has the aptitude to help.

I had Mr. Englerth's wife for my English class. The bluntness fits her writing style. Plus, she would refer to him by first name. Look, Mrs. Englerth or whomever you are, I do not mean to disrespect Mr. Englerth, but someone is not automatically a "dreamer" or "pothead" because they do not fully agree with how he counsels. If you are Mrs. Englerth, since you teach English, you would understand the importance of expressing oneself freely and truly.

Uhh, you sure about that? Please read the man's X (Twitter). He openly supports LGBT+ rights. He declared the Republican Party "the party of bigotry" when all the votes against the Equality Act were Republican. He's the kind of guy who thinks drag queens and trans people AREN'T the country's problem; assault rifles are.

No cap, wants to help kids. But he's an "I don't like to make assumptions--but I still assume" type. Think he needs to realize respect entitles more than tiptoeing around presumptions using vague, don't-cancel-me language. Genuinely don't think he realizes what he's doing.
