John E Stavrakus, 102 Sum Mor Dr, West Columbia, SC

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I went to Dr. Stavrakus for numbness in both feet. He recommended that I take Motor NCS and sensory EMG test which uses electrical shock testing waveforms. On my next visit I was under the impression that I would be talking to Dr. Stavrakus about the results of my tests. To my surprise I did not see the doctor but instead was put into a room with two young ladies. They suggested to me several shots in each ankle one or two times a week for 5 to 10 weeks called nerve blocks, which consists of shots of dextrose (corn syrup and water). They had a cart with the shots and ready to go.This was to "Relive my pain". I never told anyone on Vitalaty Medical staff that I had any pain. I have numbness in both feet which has no pain. I am also a diabetic and I think sugar water may be a bad thing for me. These injections are very expensive and are not covered by my insurance. After conferring with my family doctor, my opinion on Prolotherapy/Nerve Blocks is that it's a controversial form of therapy, and Vitality Medical try's to push it. I am sure glad I checked out Vitality Medical on line before I let them talk me into the shots. There was also some startling information about Dr. John Stavrakus on line when I did some research.Patient/ Buyer beware!

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Absolutely, hands down the best dentist I have ever had. I have been going to Dr. Major for close to two decades and can't say enough good things about him. Entire practice is top notch, friendly, efficient, and the very best care with never a long wait. Highly recommended!

David M. Lovit, DMD, 5115 Forest Drive, Columbia, SC

Rating: 1 out of 5.

Did not have a good experience more than 3 times. I kept going because he is our family dentist. My family (immediate) did not have a problem with his service. Me on the other hand and a family friend both have. He cut my lip during a tooth filling and during the procedure he noticed it and neglected to inform me of a chunk of my lip missing. I noticed my injury when I got in my car. I confronted him about it and he acted as though he never seen it before, other perfectly fine teeth have been altered by him to fit his filling on other teeth, he continued to work on my tooth after I notified him that I was in pain (the medicine that he administered did not numb me completely). All of this has happened over the course of 5 years. Least to say I do not have any good ratings for him and this time I will not go back, neither will my family after seeing the injury to my lip and the fact that he was not considerate. If I could give him a rating lower than 1 I would. I am not a bitter ex-client, I am a client that has endured unnecessary treatment, lack of care, and injury over and over again and hope that this does not happen to anyone else.

Fernando Navarro, 2 medical parkrd, Columbia, SC, 29203

Rating: 1 out of 5.

My appointment today with Dr. Navarro was awful. Dr.Navarro is taking over Dr. Nottingham's patients & told me he didn't like going behind another physician's work & he had his patients too. Why agree to take on other patients if you don't go behind another physician’s work? He didn't read my chart before my appointment. He had the nerves to ask did I think he would take me to the operating room & haven't developed a rapport with me. I've completed so much testing for my condition & Dr. Navarro made me feel as I wasn't worthy of his time or GREAT health care because of my skin color. He figured he could tell me anything & I would go for it! The sad part of the entire visit, Dr. Navarre, keep telling me he would ensure I receive my$35 co-pay back. He arrived late to the appointment & wanted to spend 2 minutes with me to walk & head to his next patient. Dr. Navarro took an oath to provide health care to individuals but he only cares about you if your skin isn't brown/black. Please be mindful when you go see Dr. Fernando Navarro located at USC SURGERY 2 MEDICAL PARK STE 300 COLUMBIA, SC 29203.

keith raskin, 317 east 34 st, new york, NY

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Dr. Raskin is the One!! last feb,. my then 14 year-old boy started to have pain in his right wrist, with no obvious injury, and with rest, pain med, he did not get any better but worse. after second mri in july, he was diagnosed with kienbock's disease and was put in cast. we were graciously recommended by our dr. to look for a more experienced surgeon for this condition. so from then and there, my family started a very long, hard and draining journey for a trustworthy surgeon to operate on my son for this rare but serious condition, esp. in a teenager. we covered pretty much all the renowned pediatric orthopedic facility on the east coast, including boston children's hospital, children's hospital of philadelphia, hss in nyc, and met with top pediatric orthopedics. unfortunately, each dr. had his own understanding of the condition and no two came up with the same surgery plan and none sounded even close to being assuring for his own plan. at one point we were told to go back and wait till the condition got worse enough for the very aggressive surgery at the next level. meanwhile my son, a very athletic kid and a competitive baseball player, was wearing the case from elbow down ( from the diagnosis in july till surgery in dec). frustration, exhaustion, desperation, helplessness, financial burden, missing school....all that doesnot even begin to describe what we went through.... untill in nov., right before thanksgiving, i was sitting in front of my computer, having exhausted all resources and feeling desperate, not knowing where to go next, when i got a phone call from dr. raskin's office that changed everything!! in no time, i found myself sitting with my son and dr. raskin in his office, settling down on his least aggressive, most assuring and convincing surgery plan with best postoperative prospect. dr. raskin, is god-sent!! he is very kind, patient, personable, understanding, warm. his office feels like a living room at a friend's house, very relaxing and welcoming. his assistant and staffs are very patient and attentive. above all this, dr. raskin is proved to be and stays as an experienced, top-notch surgeon in his field. in april this year, four months after the surgery, my son was cleared for sports and nowadays, he is pitching and in-fielding for baseball and dunking on basketball court. my family cant never thank dr. raskin enough!! we recommend him highly and without any reservation.

Dr saxena, Burlington, NC

Rating: 2 out of 5.

The front office staff is much much better than the last time I was there. Brittany is friendly, professional and helpful! A lovely girl all around. My cleaning was very expensive but very good nonetheless. Amy did a great job and her expert evaluations gave me a lot of confidence. BUT . . . I cannot help but feel that Dr. Saxeema is in this strictly for the $$$$$$. Clearly, the actual care and wellbeing of her patients is a distant second place to revenue. I have an extremely busy work schedule so booking and keeping appointments is very tough for me. On top of an expensive cleaning of $271, Dr. Saxena pointed out additional work that was very important and needed to be done. The additional work totaled about $700. Along with the cleaning $, this was considerably more than I had budgeted for that day's visit. I offered to pay for half of the additional work right then on top of paying for the cleaning and commuted to pay the balance in two weeks with an automatic CC payment. NOPE . . . Full payment takes a front seat to care & need of her patient as well as consideration for her patients time. Dr. Saxeema turned my offer down because she wants every penny right then and there despite my need for relief. This tells me that my actual dental needs and oral health are less important than how fast she gets her money! Basically, it was made clear that the Dr thinks I'm a deadbeat. That I would cheat her out of $350 even with numerous follow up visits and much more dental work to follow. This was a bad business decision . . . Really unbelievable. I cannot trust a professional that makes such small minded business decision. I will have my records moved to a doctor that cares as much about my health and time as they do about lining their pockets. My girlfriend is moving to another dentist as well.

howard chasolen, wood street

Rating: 1 out of 5.

“Follow-up After Talking With A Former Worker “ Dear Dr. Chasolen. As you know with all the discussions that we had, hopefully you can understand of my long and odious dental journey that you help put me on , and surly you knew that I had the expense of a total cost to me- starting from the university's cost for $14,000.00 plus Dr. Mish's cost of $11,800.00 and the $37,595.00 to your office ,and to date I have not a single red cent of receiving anything in workmanship nor any money back from you. plus the new cost of $27,000.00 for me to completely start all over again with another dentist, and yet another dentist to correct all of the mistakes at a cost of $29,000.00 so now with a grand total cost of $119,395.00 In all to me. I can not conceive how you must feel, of you departing an 81 year old veteran of $37,595.00 and stalling this case of my going back and forth to your office for two years, and aprox.30 visits at 80 miles per. visit -totaling over 2,500 miles and in very early morning travel (6:00 Am and on several return trips in heavy 5:00 Pm traffic as well) I think in all fairness, I was concerned of you having to pay a fee to the lab in California that you used. -and I offered to sign an affidavit to them in stating that the ten times that they could not get their work right, and that we were not going to accept the unit- as I didn't want them to charge you for the shoddy work that they were doing-time after time, and you said not to worry- as it's being sent back to them, and that they would then realize that you would not be charged at all for it, so instead you were able to keep all the money that I paid to you. I recently met a former worker of yours at the mall and I was told that all your office workers really felt bad for what you were putting me through- and how awful for what you did. I am asking at this time- in all fairness- again- if you would honor a financial adjustment for me ,as if I received a total completion of the work that you started- and if you didn't receive any money – I am sure it would not be fair to you- if you successfully completed my case, and not being paid, you would not like it. You did offer me any models , molds or anything that I may have needed for a new dentist, but I was told that dentist don't really want to use other dentist plans and case items. Please give me a call, an email- or perhaps to meet, and as I mentioned before "that I don't have sour grapes with you" and would be pleased to meet with you if you prefer. I would like to make mention of the $7,000.00 implant cost of Dr. Scott's implant crown- plus the initial cost for you to remove the crown ,as the lab could not line up their work with it, and in all fairness it was damaged at your office by your assistant that chipped it while trying to remove the temp. “Surprising for the two years of my treatments at your office ( you probably worked on my case for about 3 solid hours if any” And that is why it was a total failure, as you did not show any interest for the very complicated case that you stated -when you made me make payment of the $37,595.00 in full long before any work was ever done. You stated to me that it would be better if we removed that $7,000.00 crown to make the lab do their work with less effort, But you charged me $3,000.00 to remove the crown that was chipped at your neglect to removing the temp. unit correctly in the first place. and in closing I did spend an awful lot of unnecessary money- "and I thank God" for not having that additional cost when you sent me to your friend Dr. Ferris- who wanted a ridiculous amount of money for an unnecessary gum graft- and for the sum of $20,900.00- and Dr. Mish laughed and said that I did not need any such gum graft, and the cost to me from your friend Dr. Ferris to tell me of that,- was an additional charge to me for $200.00 Respectfully . Ray Romeo
